being more bold

so far this year, i've been thinking a lot about what i want to change in life, and want i want to see accomplished by this time next year. when i was younger i was big into making goals for myself and seeing all that i did in the time span that it took me to get there. lately goals have felt a little more discouraging because there are several that i have not met in the last few years. but for some reason this year, i have taken a renewed interest in setting goals, and i have several things i want to do before the year changes to 2012.

i want to be more bold. in life. in creating. in designs....and in dreams.

i want to run a half marathon before the end of the year.

i want to be supporting myself with my own business.

i want to be loving others better than i do now.

i want to closer the Creator. the artist from whom i can receive all inspiration.

i want to be a better friend, daughter, sister...

all in a day's work

something that i've recently realized is that being creative takes time, energy, and investment. that it is helpful for me to choose to be creative - or to practice being creative. it is a discipline like many other things.

another thing i've realized is that sometimes i really like making lists because when i cross something off, it makes me feel like i've accomplished something.

so today, many things were on the "to-do" list. one of these things was "be creative."

and here was my effort. jewelry making has been a focus of late. i hope to move this inspiration to journal making again soon. i have many ideas...but for now, here's the most recent jewelry, and some of many things to hopefully be photographed soon to put up in the now empty etsy shop!!

simple things

sometimes it's the simple things in life that keep you going...like simple yummy dinners like this one. with homegrown cilantro. in one simple word. yum.

handmade gifts

one of my very dearest friends is having a birthday this weekend, and she has been mentioning handmade dishcloths and how she loves to use them more than most other things to clean her dishes...so i thought it would be the perfect thing to make, and they turned out pretty well, i think. here are a few pictures.

word wednesday

words are some of my favorite things. so are typefaces and letters. being a graphic artist, i guess it is supposed to be a part of my nature, but i love it when i'm out somewhere, see a word and instantly know exactly what font that is.
